Above the Influence is an online interactive site that offers information, fact sheets, games, and posters for teens. This Web site and the Above the Influence ads you see on TV and in magazines are created for the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign.This campaign reflects what teens across the country have said is going on in their lives. The goal is to “help teens to stay above the influence. The more aware you are of the influences around you, the better prepared you will be to stand up to the pressures that keep you down. Checkyourself.org is an interactive online service of the Partnership for a Drug Free America (http://www.drugfree.org/ that offers resources, information, quizzes, and videos for teens to question themselves about their drug use. http://www.checkyourself.org/
SADD.org is the nation’s leading youth empowerment and prevention organization, with 10,000 chapters in middle schools, high schools and colleges across the country. They are dedicated to preventing destructive decisions, particularly underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving, and teen violence. http://www.sadd.org/

NATIONAL SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION ORGANIZATIONS

Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) has been training local grassroots groups, known as community anti-drug coalitions, in effective community problem-solving strategies, teaching them how to assess their local substance abuse-related problems and develop a comprehensive plan to address them. Children of Alcoholics Foundation (COAF) works to help children of all ages from alcoholic and substance abusing families reach their full potential by breaking the cycle of parental substance abuse and reducing the pain and problems that result from parental addiction. COAF, develops curriculum and other educational materials, writes reports, provides information about parental substance abuse for the general public, trains professionals and promotes research. http://www.coaf.org/

Join Together (JTO) is a national resource center helping communities fight substance abuse, as well as gun violence. Their Web site provides timely information on legislation and other emerging issues related to substance abuse. http://www.jointogether.org/

National Association for Children of Alcoholics (NACoA) is a national nonprofit membership organization working on behalf of children of alcohol and drug dependent parents. Their mission is to advocate for all children and families affected by alcoholism and other drug dependencies. They offer articles and commentaries and distribute materials through NCADI. http://www.nacoa.org/

National Association for Addiction Professionals is the only professional membership organization that serves counselors who specialize in addiction treatment and works to create healthier families and communities through prevention, intervention and quality treatment. National Inhalant Prevention Coalition (NIPC) promotes awareness and recognition of inhalant use. The NIPC serves as an inhalant referral and information clearinghouse, stimulates media coverage about inhalant issues, develops informational materials, produces ViewPoint (a quarterly newsletter), provides training and technical assistance and leads a week-long national grassroots inhalant education and awareness campaign. http://www.inhalants.org/

National Institute on Alcohol Abuse & Alcoholism (NIAAA) provides leadership in the national effort to reduce alcohol-related problems.
